Good-Bye Australia

Hi TASTE,

at the moment I am in Noosa just above Brisbane and enjoy my 3rd last week in Australia. I did an open water diving course here and I passed the main exam yesterday 🙂 the underwater world here is amazing. On my last dive I even swam with wild dolphins, never thought I could do that ever in my life!

Tomorrow I am going to hit for Alice Springs (I am not gonna leave Australia without having seen the Ayer’s rock :)) and then it’s almost time to go back to Germany. That’s pretty sad. I had an indescribable time here even if I had to change families because I was not getting along with my first one very well. My new family is just awesome. I have a host mum and a brother (15) and a sister (17) and we are all in the same triathlon club, spending most time of the day there training for the races.

I have a really close relationship to my host mum. She and her husband broke up during my second week at their place. she was really upset but she said I came at the right time and made her smile again 🙂 we often have pretty intern talks about everything what’s going to affect ourselves, our lifes etc. and sometimes she is just cuddling me…I have an absolute great time here and I don’t wanna know how it will be in 3 weeks when I have to say goodbye to everyone.

My last day in school was very sad and it already made me cry to say goodbye to all the teachers who came so close over the last 6 months….and with the feeling you won’t see them for a long time, maybe never again in your life. That’s pretty sad. My maths teacher even made me a cake with his visiting card on the top and a little note on it „keep in touch“ – I’ve never experienced something like that before. I already had to say goodbye to my friends as well cos it is not sure if I will see them again when I come back from the Ayer’s rock.

I am gonna leave Australia with a smiling and a crying eye. On the one hand I am looking forward to see all my friends and family back in Germany but on the other hand do I have to leave my new friends and especially my new family over here. That’s gonna be confusing when I sit in the plane back to Germany and I don’t know where I actually wanna be…. My host family is very sporty as I mentioned above though my German mum wrote them an invitation to come to Germany for the Berlin Marathon 2004. When my host family got the invitation they couldn’t believe it! Firstly they weren’t sure if they would be able to afford it but then they said they will save over the year and will go for it…so I will meet them in Germany in September next year! Can’t wait!!! It is going to be a lot of fun. But now, I better enjoy my last weeks in Australia. If there are any students who wanna know something about the life and school in Australia just write me (TASTE will forward your email to me!). I am looking forward to hearing from you.

Bye bye
